Aron Sherriff has had an undeniably stellar year in 2022. As he has rolled through the year winning one major Australian title after another, the Broadbeach BC star has treated us all to some brilliant displays of lawn bowls. To top off his achievements, BA recently named him in the Jackaroos squad after a 10 month break from international duty.

In May, Aron starred with the Moama Steamers at BPL15, being named as MVP for a record 5th time. In June he took out the Australia Open singles title for an extraordinary fourth time. He then backed this up with a win in Tweed Heads at the Australian Indoor Championships. Following that, it was win in the Golden Nugget Invitational Singles.

“I think my form this year just comes down to the fact that I’m in a really good place with my bowls at the moment. I’m enjoying the events that I choose to play in,” he said.

“Winning my first Aussie Indoor was probably the highlight. Although winning a 4th Australian Open title and my 2nd Nugget are also extremely satisfying.”

When he steps onto the green, Aron uses a couple of different Henselite models, depending on the surface. “The Dreamline XG is the most versatile bowl on the market today. I use it 95% of the year, however on slower tracks or some carpet surfaces I like to use the Tiger II as it gives me a little extra draw which I enjoy.”

Last week Aron notched up his 250th game at the Bowls Premier League. This is as many as Moreton Bay Pirates and the Sydney Lions have played as teams.

Now he is looking forward to being back in action with the Jackaroos squad after a break which allowed him to spend more time with his family and focus on why he loves the game of bowls. We look forward to watching him out on the green once again in the green & gold.
