Dawn Rises at the Australian Champion of Champions

The stars were all out at the Dandenong Club last month at the Australian Champion of Champions. Delayed from 2020 due to COVID, all the State Champion of Club Champions (with the exception of WA) were on display, fighting it out to take the crown.

In the men’s field Trystan Smallacombe (NT) edged out Corey Wedlock (NSW) on points differential to take the top prize.

In a star studded women’s field with 5 Team Henselite representatives that included 4 Jackaroos, Dawn Hayman showed why her consistency over the past year has everyone talking. She bowled brilliantly to take out her second Australian Champion of Champions title, becoming the first woman to secure multiple titles; and just the third person to claim back-to-back victories.

“Winning back to back titles is amazing!” she said. “Especially in two different states on two different surfaces, my Henselite Dreamline XGs played brilliantly and I was able to play all the shots.”

Dawn has since gone on to take up her first berth at the Bowls Premier League with Perth Suns. Despite hailing from NSW, the spot opened for Dawn when COVID restrictions prevented the Western Australian team from travel. She didn’t disappoint and showed the same consistency at Pine Rivers as she has on all surfaces over the last 12 months.
